Take note, This is the Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date!

undangansamsungs9

Like the Galaxy S8 and S8 + in the last year, of course, not a little gadget that is waiting for the next generation presence, Galaxy S9 and S9 +. Word got out, the premium smartphone from Samsung will pitch dikeramaian MWC 2018 in Barcelona.

Yes! The puzzle is answered. South Korean electronics giant will release Galaxy duo S9 Series on February 25, 2018. As usual, Samsung will also launch event broadcast "live" via the official website.

So far, based on some leaks and fro on the internet, this smartphone will not have a different design than its predecessor. Has a screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9, Samsung also still complete with Infinity Display.

Several other leaks also revealed that Samsung redesigned the design of the rear camera is placed. Likewise, there remains a fingerprint scanner on the back, but moved just below the rear camera.

Talking about the camera embedded, not a few who hope, Samsung will offer a different experience between Galaxy S9 and S9 +. It might, Galaxy S9 only equipped with one camera and Galaxy S9 + with support for two cameras.

Samsung's Galaxy S9 is coming February 25. Here's everything we know about it

Galaxy S9 design

galaxy s9 render

This leaked render of the Galaxy S9 shows a similar phone to the S8... not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Samsung made a splash with the 18:9, slim-bezel design of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Rumors suggest the S9 won’t stray too far from that formula. As serial tipster Evan Blass pointed out on Twitter, this is a “tock” year for the Galaxy S, meaning it will likely focus on performance enhancements rather than physical changes. Code-named Star 1 and Star 2, according to Blass, other reports have suggested that the top and bottom bezels could be trimmed, but otherwise the front of the device will likely look very similar to the S8’s.

The rear of the device will be quite a bit different, however. The placement of the fingerprint sensor was one of the biggest pain points with the S8, and according to /Leaks, Samsung is expected to move it below the camera with the S9. There might be a new color as well: Sammobile recently reported that the new phone will come in the usual black, gold, and blue variations, with a deep-violet option replacing orchid gray.

Enthusiast site 91Mobiles published a set of factory CAD renders of the S9, and the images match up very well with the rumors we’ve seen so far. Bottom line: few visual changes, but still a beauty.

Galaxy S9 specs and OS

qualcomm snapdragon 845 cropped
The Snapdragon 845 is bound for the S9.

One thing we know for sure about the Galaxy S9 is that it will sport the Snapdragon 845 chip. Recently unveiled by Qualcomm, this is the follow-up to the Snapdragon 835 that debuted in the S8 and powered every Android flagship in 2017. Once again, the chip was co-designed with and will be manufactured by Samsung, so there’s a good chance the S9 will once again be the exclusive launch phone.

Along with a speed and power efficiency boost, the 845 chip includes a dedicated AI chip, which could provide a boost to Samsung’s Bixby assistant. The chip also includes a Secure Processing Unit for biometric data and payment info, which will work in conjunction with Samsung Knox to make the S9 even more secure.

Samsung has also announced that production has started on a 512GB storage chip, but it’s unlikely that will end up in the S9. Samsung shipped the S8 with just 64GB of storage, so it’s unlikely to jump all the way to 512GB. However, a 128GB model is a possibility.

Elsewhere, leaked renders published by China-based site Vtechgraphy.com show the buttons and ports will likely stay the same (though we’re hoping Samsung lets us change the dedicated Bixby button), including the 3.5mm headphone jack, thankfully.

On the OS side, a beta version of Samsung Experience 9.0 based on Oreo is already making the rounds, bringing notification channels and autofill along with some Samsung-specific tweaks such as Edge lighting and new clock widgets. We can assume the Galaxy S9 will ship with this new version.

Galaxy S9 features

galaxy s8 iris
The Galaxy S9 will reportedly enhance its iris scanner.

Biometrics were a big deal on the S8 (the placement of the fingerprint sensor notwithstanding), and Samsung may be upping the ante with the S9. Smartphone supplier Synaptics has announced that it has begun mass production on its new Clear ID in-display fingerprint technology with a “top five OEM.” That could very well mean it’s bound for the S9. There have been rumors for months that Samsung has been testing fingerprint scanning under the glass, a feature Apple reportedly scrapped from its iPhone X. While this seems to contradict reports that there will still be a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, it’s possible that Samsung will offer both options in the S9, with the in-display scanner serving as more of a next-generation beta feature.

The rumor mill has all but confirmed that the S9 won’t have a Face ID-style depth-sensing facial scanner, but it will have improved 2D facial scanning, reports Business Korea. Furthermore, the Korea Herald reports that Samsung will be upping the megapixels on its iris sensor from 2MP to 3MP, which will make it able to “better recognize users’ irises even when they wear eyeglasses, move their eyeballs or are in a too dark or too light environment.” Additionally, the report says Samsung is tweaking its biometric software to be more accurate.

Galaxy S9 camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 cameras Adam Patrick Murray/IDG
The Galaxy S9+ will probably have a dual camera, but the smaller model might not,

Samsung’s own teaser for the S9 event says it will feature a “reimagined” camera, so it will clearly be a major feature on the new phone. On its website, Samsung has already spotlighted upcoming camera technologies for taking slow-motion video and low-light photos, so the new flagships will presumably feature these enhancements.

When the Galaxy Note 8 landed with Samsung’s first dual camera array, we naturally assumed it would be making its way into the S9 and S9+. That might not be the case. Rumors and schematic leaks suggest that the smaller S9 will be retaining the single camera, while the S9+ will be getting a dual camera, just like Apple differentiates its iPhone models.
galaxy s9 box leakWeibo
This picture of the Galaxy S9 box shows the specs of the device.

Furthermore, Chinese site Vechgraphyclaims that the main camera on both phones will sport an f/1.5 aperture, wider than the Note 8’s f/1.7 and the LG V30’s f/1.6, which would help with low-light situations. A purported picture of the Galaxy S9’s packaging on Weibo (seen at right) confirms the f/1.5 aperture, and also suggests that users will be able to manually switch between apertures, from f/2.4 to f/1.5. Samsung already sells a pricey flip phone in China that features variable aperture, but it would be a first on a premium Android phone. The feature would let users control the lens mechanically rather than digitally for significantly better low-light performance and crisper portraits.

Also on tap for the S9, according to the box pic, is a Super Slow-mo feature that would presumably mimic the one in the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. That phone is capable of shooting video at 960fps, four times the Galaxy S8’s 240fps.

Galaxy S9 launch and release

While it was reported that Samsung would be offering a sneak peak of the Galaxy S9 at CES this year, that didn’t happen. What did happen was a surprising confirmation of a Sammobile report that claimed Samsung will once again launch its flagship phones at Mobile World Congress. Samsung’s mobile division president DJ Koh told reporters that the new phone would be unveiled at the Barcelona event this year after skipping it last year in favor of a New York City launch. And now Samsung has confirmed exactly when we’ll get out first look a the new phone: February 25 at noon EST.

This is the latest ISOCELL Sensor that will be carried Galaxy S9

In addition to smartphones and processors, Samsung also developed its own camera sensor, namely ISOCELL. Currently secretly Samsung has prepared a new ISOCELL sensor that he said to apply to the flagship Galaxy S9. This sensor will have a capability that is almost equivalent to Sony IMX400 sensor that can record slow motion 960 fps video.
Thanks to 3-stack Fast Read Out Sensors (FRS) and Dual Pixel Super Phase Detection Sensors (Super PD) incorporated in this new ISOCELL sensor, the camera can aim and lock focus faster and more accurately than previous generations. Intelligently, Super PD can identify the distance of a fast moving object, even when light is lacking.
ISOCELL Super PD
Samsung has confirmed the latest ISOCELL sensor is capable of recording slow motion 480 fps video at Full HD resolution (1.080p). In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + are only able to record slow motion 240 fps video on HD resolution (720p).
In other words, Galaxy S9 users will get a camera with video recording capability with twice the framerate (fps) in higher resolution than the Galaxy S8. Of course if the latest ISOCELL sensor is capable of recording 480 fps video at Full HD resolution (1.080p) then theoretically capable of their 960 fps video at HD resolution (720p).
Earlier Sony was the first company to bring dual-stacked sensors through the Xperia smartphone capable of recording 960 fp video. But the implementation is not completely intuitive because the user can only record the action for a few seconds only and it is difficult to know which scene is recorded.

We just pray, hopefully Samsung triple stacked sensor can overcome the limit of video duration.Later Samsung Galaxy S9 will have a 12 MP camera with dynamic aperture f / 1.5 to f / 2.4 in accordance with the scenario taking photos. For that, let's wait for the latest news from Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + in the upcoming MWC 2018.

Galaxy S9, S9 Plus Concepts Look Somewhat Realistic

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are amongst the most anticipated handsets of this year, and while we’re waiting for Samsung to unveil them, which will happen at the end of next month at MWC 2018, a YouTube channel called ‘DBS DESIGNING’ has released concept Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handsets.

DBS DESIGNING’s work is portrayed in the video which is embedded down below, and even though the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will not look exactly like the devices pictured here, they could end up looking quite similar, actually, read on.

These two devices are made out of metal and glass, while both its back and front sides are curved. Only the Galaxy S9 sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and it comes with a single rear-facing camera, while the Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a dual camera setup, but the fingerprint scanner is not located on the back of the phone, it seems to be embedded into the display instead.

The power / lock key is placed on the right-hand side of both of these phones, while the Bixby key and volume up / down buttons can be found on the left. A Type-C USB port is located on the bottom of both phones, and it is flanked by a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The bezels on both of these phones are really thin, and the top bezel is the thickest of them all, which is expected to be the case with the real Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus units, actually. The display sports rounded corners on both smartphones, and the Galaxy S9 Plus is noticeably larger than its sibling.

Now, in addition to envisioning their design, DBS DESIGNING also envisioned some specs for these two smartphones. The Galaxy S9 sports a 5.6-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED panel. Real life Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handset will probably ship with somewhat larger displays, as the Galaxy S9 is expected to sport a 5.8-inch panel, while the Galaxy S9 Plus will probably arrive with a 6.2 or 6.3-inch display.

Both phones come with a 12-megapixel dual shooter on the back (f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture), while an 8-megapixel camera is included on the front. IP68 certification for water and dust resistance is also included here, and the same can be said for an iris scanner. These two concept phones sport 4GB and 6GB of RAM, respectively, while they also offer 64GB and 128GB of storage. The source has shown off Black, Silver, Blue, White and Gold variant of their concept Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones, which you can check out in the provided video. The real Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus may resemble these two concept phones in terms of the design, except for the fact that both phones will probably sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

News-Samsung Outlines Official Details About Exynos 7872 SoC

Following the recent Bluetooth Sig-certification of a new Samsung chipset – the Exynos 5 Series 7872 SoC – the company has now taken to its own official blog to confirm and clarify some of the details about its new mid-range chip.

According to Samsung and despite its middle-of-the-road status, the new Exynos 7872 SoC will be powerful enough to take on console-quality gaming, high-quality photography, and more mundane tasks such as browsing the web. It may not be as strong as a flagship processor but it should satisfy the needs of most consumers. With regard to Samsung’s purpose behind the chip, the company has stated a desire to bring mid-range devices closer to the premium end of the Android device spectrum.

To meet the above-stated goal, Samsung confirms that it has doubled up on the number of Cortex-A73 cores found in the latest iteration of this chip series. That means the 64-bit Exynos 7872 SoC comes in a Hexa-core configuration with two of those cores clocked at 2.0GHz, while the remaining four Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 1.6Ghz. Samsung says the new configuration increases single-core performance by two-fold over its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the new chip embeds a two-carrier aggregation-capable LTE modem, for peak download speeds of around 300Mbps and uploads of around 150Mbps where possible. While the company didn’t confirm the bands, that modem also allows support for a huge range of network environments including CDMA, GSM, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, LTE-FDD, and LTE-TDD. That’s in addition to the probably unsurprising inclusion of a Global Navigation Satellite System receiver and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5. On the camera side of the equation, the Exynos 7872 supports full HD video at 120 frames per second. The chip also supports features such as depth-adjustment and dual-camera setups to assist Android device manufacturers in bringing top-end photography to mid-range handsets.

Taken as a whole, that package should be reasonably appealing to both consumers and smartphone makers. As already stated, it won’t necessarily enable a direct competition between devices using the new Exynos 7872 SoC and devices such as the Galaxy Note 8 or up-and-coming Samsung flagships. It will, however, put a lot more power into the hands of smartphone users in the middle of the market, where a much higher number of devices are sold. That, in turn, should allow users to get a lot more out of their devices and developers to create more and better applications for users.

Samsung To Debut A 5G Modem For Android Phones In 2018

Samsung is planning to debut a 5G modem for mobile chips meant to be integrated into one of its upcoming Exynos platforms for the company’s Android smartphones by the end of the year, BusinessKorea reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The modem may be part of the next flagship system-on-chip from Samsung’s foundry unit that will power the Galaxy S10 lineup and the Galaxy Note 10 phablet in 2019. Sources claim the creation was already presented to Samsung’s major partners during last week’s Consumer Electronics Show, having supposedly been privately showcased at the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The chip was unveiled as the Exynos 5G but that may only be a tentative name, according to the same report.

Besides being compatible with the fifth generation of mobile networks whose first standard was fully defined just last month and hence allow the OEM to offer a new level of connectivity support to its customers, the modem is also meant to allow Samsung to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm as far as mobile telecommunications solutions are concerned.

The Exynos 5G was developed by Samsung’s System LSI Business Department and its prototypes are expected to be made available to the company’s wireless division in the second half of the year.

The chip is likely to be used for testing Samsung’s 5G equipment that’s recently been ordered by Verizon. It’s currently unclear since when has the South Korean tech giant been developing the exact configuration of the Exynos 5G but the modem is said to be entirely compliant with the Release 15 NSA 5G NR specification announced last month that’s scheduled to be completed in June.

Both high-frequency mmWave bands and those below 6GHz are said to be supported by the Exynos 5G, with its backward compatibility reportedly going as far as 2G. Its carrier aggregation solution can allow for peak download speeds of 5Gbps, according to the same report.

The Exynos 5G or a refined version of the thereof should be commercialized within Samsung’s smartphones in early 2019, insiders claim, adding that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 or however the Snapdragon 845 successor ends up being called should also feature an entirely 5G-ready chip. Intel is expected to commercialize its own 5G-enabled XMM8060 modem in mid-2019, while Samsung should share first official details on its upcoming 5G modem in the second half of the year.

Wonderful like Wonder Woman Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 review

There's no doubt that the Mi Mix 2 is quite the diva in the looks department. It is a gorgeous smartphone with its stunning all screen fascia and ceramic back. It kind of reminds me of the stunning Gal Gadot in DC Comic's Wonder Woman from earlier this year. At 5.99-inches of screen and a full HD+ resolution in the 18:9 aspect ratio, it provides the quintessential immersion required of a modern flagship phone. This kind of adds to the wonder of this phone. It has good viewing angles, brightness levels are also very good and the screen is sharp enough.

Last year when Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix, it was dubbed a concept phone because of its insane bezel-less screen. It was concept that has gone mainstream in 2017 with the likes of Samsung, Essential, LG and even Apple announcing phones which are almost all screen. Xiaomi's phone last year was even bold in terms of industrial design -- it had a ceramic back, something which Essential further implemented in its device. A couple of weeks ago, one day before the launch of the iPhone X,Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix 2 . It has graduated from being a concept to a mainstream phone. The confluence of this gorgeous industrial design and the latest power packed features found on modern Android phones make it wondrous. Almost so wondrous that it can be dubbed a Wonder Woman hidden in the shell of a smartphone shell.

The Good

Like Wonder Woman, this one is so utterly powerful. It has all the bells and whistles that one expects of a modern Android flagship. It has Qualcomm's latest flagship processor replete with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and even dual SIM functionality supporting 43 bands around the world -- the most for a smartphone in the world.

It is an immovable object like the Amazonian goddess. You can have multiple apps open and stress test the hell out of it or even play high resolution games like Dead Trigger 2 and it would operate without breaking sweat. It doesn't get heated up, and none of the nastiness about high performance phones plagues this.

The ceramic back is also interesting because it makes the phone resistant to scratches. The steel frame now curves and wraps around subtly which eliminates the rectangular nature of the phone and makes it ergonomic to hold.

With a capacious 3,450mAh battery Xiaomi also ensures that this phone isn't just powerful and gorgeous, but it has legs to run circles around some of its competition. On a given day with medium to heavy usage the phone can last more than a single day on a single charge. It can be refilled also rapidly with its USB Type C port using fast charge.

Xiaomi has fixed the biggest weakness of the Mi Mix. Its camera. The Mi Mix 2 has a new 12-megapixel camera with an optical stabilised lens. It is the same one as the Mi 6, Xiaomi claims and it is wonderful. Despite not being a dual camera system, its performance in its segment is the best one. It is right up there with the dual camera system on the Nokia 8, while it steamrolls the OnePlus 5 generally in image quality in both low and daylight. It is the best camera Xiaomi has made till date and for most people it is going to be a very reliable camera that would work in any situation. The 4 axis stabilisation also makes the video quality of the phone to be surprisingly smooth which is coupled with good audio capture facilities.

The audio output of the Mix 2 is superb.Despite having a mono speaker, it packs a powerful amplifier and DAC which delivers loud and clear audio. Xiaomi has also managed to outfit a proper microphone which wasn't present in the previous phone which means the call quality is back to normal.

The Bad

The Mix 2 is gorgeous and powerful, but not perfect. The biggest trade off is the front selfie camera which is placed on the bottom half of the phone. It is far from perfect. The good news is that when you fill the phone, the interface for the app auto rotates and saves photos in the right orientation. But it a trade off.

In order to miniaturise the design of the original Mix, Xiaomi aggressively moved to make some more changes which included removing the 3.5mm jack like the iPhone. Xiaomi claims that the 3.5mm jack is a large component and output through a type C connector has potential for better headphones in the future. Right now, one needs to deal with irritating dongles which are easy to lose.

Similarly, to have a better camera Xiaomi has added a bit of a camera bump on the back of the phone. Unlike most new high-end phones it doesn't even have a dual camera system for a portrait mode like feature. Now that's a bummer as the OnePlus 5 and even the Mi 6 have that feature.

The battery size has been drastically reduced from the original Mix. From 4,400mAh battery the Mix 2 has a 3,450mAh battery which obviously means the battery life isn't as good as its predecessor. That being said, in tandem with software optimisations in Mi UI 9, the effect isn't very exaggerated. Battery life remains good on this phone.

Ceramic on the back of the phone isn't only a massive fingerprint magnet, but also makes the phone more susceptible to damage as ceramic is more brittle than glass. If you drop the phone with substantial impact, the ceramic will crack which will cause severe damage to the phone.

Should you buy it?

The Mix 2 is ultimate confluence of beauty and untamed power in a smartphone. It marries the looks and skills of Wonder Woman in a wonderful package and a reasonable price. It may not have the raw power of the OnePlus 5 or the subtle class of the Nokia 8 , but it makes up for this in assassin like gorgeous looks and amazonian warrior like fire power. Make no mistake, this wonderful phone isn't only Xiaomi's best phone to date, it is one of the best around. Period.
